Kretashala Retreats in Triopetra, South Coast Crete
Jutting out into the water from the wild and magical countryside along the southern coast of Crete lies "Triopetra" – three large rock
formations that give the area its name. Pavlo's guesthouse is located directly on the sea, far away from traffic, noise, and other invasive aspects of civilization. This manageably-sized, family-run complex offers simple, clean rooms outfitted with a refrigerator, kitchenette, air-conditioning, bathroom with shower and toilet, and a balcony with a wide and breath-taking view out over the sea and coast. The tiny, characteristic village, the gorgeous beaches, and the striking mountains of warm brown stone topped with the sea-washed greens of typical island shrubbery playing against the oscillating blue tones of the Libyan Sea uniquely frame the Kretashala Retreats. Though off the beaten path, this area has always drawn people seeking to harmonize with its raw natural vibrations. As such, ascetics, monks, philosophers, and yogis have long allowed the earthy, motherly power of this region to permeate their consciousness. The surrounding areas provide countless opportunities for hiking, exploring, and excursion. Minimarkets, bakeries, internet cafés, and taverns can be found nearby, and a wider range of shopping possibilities are available in Spili, a larger village with holy springs, about 30-minutes away by car. The yoga practice room is right above the accommodations, also with a sea view. Pavlos and his family take care of the board, and prepare delicious, vegetarian, distinctively Cretan meals, largely from local produce.
